WATCH THE FULL EVENT HERE

On 13 August 2020, Birds Eye View (BEV) hosted a live panel event, talking about Chinonye Chukwu’s award-winning film, CLEMENCY.  BEV is a non-profit organisation that campaigns for gender equality in all film spaces.

We were in conversation with Ndume Olatushani (who spent 20 years on death row in a Tennessee prison for a crime that he did not commit); Michael Radelet, Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder who has testified for the defence in 75 death penalty cases; and Elizabeth Zitrin, criminal defence lawyer in San Francisco and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Witness to Innocence.

Winner of the Sundance Festival Grand Jury Prize, CLEMENCY tells the story of Bernadine Williams (played by Oscar Award Nominee Alfre Woodard) and the toll years of carrying out executions has on her and her family. It is a powerful portrayal of the brutal realities of death row. Clemency is distributed by Bohemia Media, a production company which aims to give voice to marginalised groups.

Watch Clemency here  and half of the profit from your view will go directly to us! Available till 23 August.
