In May, the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights contacted us requesting submissions to assist them in drafting a Report on behalf of the Secretary-General to the UN General Assembly in support of a ‘Moratorium on the Use of the Death Penalty’.

The Report was published in August and we were pleased to see that our work and its impact is recognised throughout the Report. In particular in relation to the trends in the use of the death penalty; the restriction of the use of the death penalty in the Caribbean, Africa and Asia; the promotion of fair trial guarantees and our initiatives towards the abolition of the death penalty, including our regional strategy meetings and legal networks in Africa and Asia.
