Malaysia to Consider Legislative Changes to Mandatory Death Penalty

Following proposals from the Singaporean government to restrict the use of the death penalty, including legislative changes to abolish the mandatory death penalty for some categories of drug trafficking offences and homicide offences, the Malaysian government had announced its intention to follow and to consider legislative changes to the mandatory death penalty for drug offences.
